Old Sturbridge Village, the largest living museum in New England, recreates life in rural New England during the early 1800s. A recent visit during the Christmas season featured wagon rides, demonstrations of period arts and crafts, and a chance to experience what life in a simpler time might be like.
How absolutely charming and what attention to detail – even down to the muddy road!
I love studying the history of most eras, but living here I certainly have opportunities to delve into Early American Studies!
Lovely that the living museum can bring that earlier era to life for visitors too.
We have a historic site like this near where we live. It’s fun to “go back in time.”
Plimoth Plantation, Mystic Seaport, the Shaker Museum…I love them all. I’m glad for my computers and easier lifestyle, but for me, there is something so wonderful about seeing simpler times, when people had so many practical and beautiful skills.
