Stopping at the Lodge

Canada Geese are often seen near beaver lodges in the early Spring. The activity of the beavers leads to earlier thawing of the ice, providing the geese with a welcome habitat and food resources. This is an example of a symbiotic relationship in nature.

  1. How interesting that the activities of the beaver have a beneficial effect on other species such as the geese. As others have commented the light in these photos is particularly lovely.

    1. Thanks so much. Beavers are beneficial, but also a bit of a trial. Their lodges change the water flow up and down stream. I visit them often in the summer evenings. Such fun to watch!
