Tunnel Vision A tunnel on the Mass Central Rail Trail provides a surprising sight for both art and nature lovers. One can walk through the hill on the Mass Central Rail Trail in Rutland, MA. Brilliant colors and exposed layers of rock vie for attention. Unexpectedly, hikers spy a tunnel up ahead. Inside, wanderers find a colorful woodland mural created by local amateur artists of all ages. Flora and fauna of the nearby woods and fields are depicted on the walls in this work in progress. Nature artwork blends with the leaf-strewn path at the end of the tunnel. And it’s off on the open road (or trail) once again. Share this:EmailLike this:Like Loading... I liked that kids and adults of all abilities got to work on it. A nice community effort. Loading... Reply
That does make it all the more special. Love when the community comes together to work on something positive Loading...
Love the contrast of the fall colours next to those bright blue skies. I’m usually not a fan of walking through tunnels as they are usually dank and dark, but this one looks quite inviting with the mural. Loading... Reply
It was a stroke of luck that I was there during the height of color. I’m not much of a fan of tunnels, either. Fortunately, this one is that long. Loading... Reply
Thank you. This walk is also beautiful in the snow, with icicles dripping down the sides of the rocks. -Julie Loading... Reply
