Signs of spring abound at the Audubon.A Black-capped Chickadee rests on a grape vine. The All Persons Ramp to the raft will make the view accessible to all.In the wetland area, a Red-winged Blackbird pauses among the cattails. The ground near the bird feeder provides unending treats for the Red Squirrel.
This photo blog features the seasonal changes in nature observed in my own backyard and a variety of local environments. The Wachusett Meadow Audubon Sanctuary in Princeton, MA is often highlighted as a model for the positive effects a small nature preserve can have on the larger environment and the local community. Local sites of historical, cultural and recreational interest are spotlighted as well.
All photographs were taken by me. Thank you so much for visiting.
Speaking of ramps, pretty soon CSA boxes will have spring ramps in them!

Ramps are very hip right now. 😉 In the Amherst area, (aka The Happy Valley) a bunch of asparagus is called a “Happy Valley Bouquet” ….

Red-winged Blackbirds are one of my favorites. Such distinct songs…

I grew up next to a cornfield, so the Red-winged Blackbird song is the sound of summer to me.
