Mokuso

Mokuso is a Japanese term meaning “silent reflection” or “meditation”. In photography, it refers to a mindful state of calm awareness. The photographer breathes quietly and steadily, observes a scene deeply and waits patiently to capture the right moment .

      1. What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs And stare as long as sheep or cows.

  1. Your photos convey that quiet sense of awareness. How interesting to express mokuso (a new word to me too) through photography.

  2. Wonderfully serene here, Julie, thank you. Lovely words and your photos have beautiful light and composition. The cottontail is especially dear.

    1. Thanks for your kind words, Jet. Yes, it’s lucky that the cottontails are especially dear, because they are very at home in my yard. 😉 The little ones are hard to see, and will suddenly jump out from under a bush that I am watering.
