Great Blue Heron, Wildlife Pond, Wachusett Meadow Audubon, Princeton, MAIt’s common to see a heron on or around the dead tree branches during the summer, especially during the late afternoon. The water is unusually high due to the record-breaking rain in Central Massachusetts. Plenty of fish here to attract a Great Blue. It can be easy to miss a heron, as they often blend in so well with their environment, and remain motionless for long periods of time.
Great shots, love these birds! You’re right, they can blend in so well. I’ve had one be very close to me several times and I didn’t know it. And sometimes they didn’t know I am there! 😉
Very nice! I have a place similar to this (and there are a couple Heron’s there too!) where I go. Love watching the wildlife and listening to the water.
It looks like a beautiful place for them to hang out! Wonderful photos!
Thank you! It is my happy place! -Julie
Great shots!
Thanks! Quite a bit of luck to catch it, as well! 😉
Thanks you! I miss the herons when they leave at the end of the summer.
They are very beautiful birds. I see them on Lake Wingra but never capture them well on film.
The location is absolutely gorgeous! 🙂
It really is. I am so lucky that the Sanctuary is just a few minutes away!
What a beautiful heron and the setting is absolutely gorgeous too.
Such a rich and quiet habitat….
It radiates peacefulness.

Beautiful photos! The scenery is beautiful.
It is a lovely place. I go there two or three times a week, as it is only a few miles down the road!
