      1. We do have them year round, but in winter, they seem to be nomadic. I think they have evolved to do that to keep from depleting resources perhaps? It is interesting to note that many of the birds at the feeders, like chickadees, titmice and nuthatches, cache food in the fall, which they rely upon when resources dwindle, so they stick around.

      1. Hi Julie!
Thats great! Everything it’s fine thanks. Hope you are well too.
It’s will inspire you to take a lot of photos. Cheers.

  1. Hi Julie,
I didn’t know your Red-winged Blackbirds left during the winter–ours stay here year-round. It’s always nice to have returning birds signal the possible shift to springtime. The molting goldfinches do the same, it’s nice to watch them turn yellower by the week. And some of your grass is greening up, too!
    Happy second half of February,
    Tanja

  2. It is a joy to see your eastern birds and squirrels here, Julie, in all their finery. Where I live in No. Calif. we have red-winged blackbirds year-round, more lesser goldfinches than American, gray squirrels rather than red, oak titmice but not tufted, and no northern cardinals at all. Such a big and varied country we have.
