I didn’t know that they ate lily pads, good catch, Julie!
Thanks, Eliza. I love watching them pull the pads in toward themselves. Sort of “take in” dining rather than “take out”, maybe? 😉
Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow!
Amazing photos and video! Is awesome how did you capture the moment,
seems to be enjoying a banquet…
Thank’s for share Julie! Have a lovely weekend!
You always just cheer me with you enthusiastic comments, Elvira. ;- ) Thanks for always visiting. Although the beaver wasn’t that far away, I get close-ups with the help of my zoom lens. My videos are often a bit shaky, but when the animals are cute, I figure it doesn’t matter that much.
Wishing you a good weekend, and a good fall season. It’s pumpkin latte time around here!
Cheers,
Julie
I just enjoy visit your blog, Julie.
Always a pleasure watch your talent. That was amazing! Appreciate your kind comment, wishing you a great weekend as well. As you said pumpkin latte must be wonderful.
Cheers with a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of pie. All the best!
Elvira
Great captures Jan. Love these guys. Have a great weekend. Allan
The beavers add so much to the Audubon Sanctuary. Truly a keystone animal. Wishing you a good fall.
Best Regards,
Julie
I’ve seen muskrats eat lily pads/flowers but never a beaver. Nice catch, nice shots, and nice videos, Julie!
Thanks, Steve. Wachusett Meadow is a few miles down the road for me, so I often go there to watch my “beaver friends” on a summer evening. Wishing you a Happy Labor Day!
-Julie
Lovely colours in the photographs and wonderful chomping beaver videos
These beavers live a few miles down the road, and are out most summer nights. Such a nice way to end the day watching them.
Lovely. Thanks for sharing. 😋😋😋
Are they eating to prepare for the coming winter?
Yes, they are storing up quite a bit of body fat. They don’t hibernate all winter though. They are out and about on some of the warmer sunny days.
Great shots of those beavers eating the lily pads Julie! We have no beavers in Ireland, although there are some people who would like to introduce them here. It’s amazing how they can benefit the environment, in places where they naturally exist..
Sometimes the dams beavers build can be troubling if they flood nearby roads, but overall they are an amazingly helpful species.
Have a good week!
Wonderful photos and videos, Julie. Watching beavers is so much fun. This one is definitely getting enough greens.
Ah, those beavers! They are my “quiet evening friends” I enjoy visiting,,,And yes, they are getting their greens while employing an expert folding technique, I think!
